New York Attorney General Faces Federal Financial Fraud Charges

A national judicial panel brought charges against the New York attorney general over allegations of financial misconduct this past Thursday, according to someone with knowledge of the case.

Lindsey Halligan personally presented the charges before the judicial panel on Thursday, as reported.

Federal prosecutors do not typically address such panels.

Halligan took over the position the previous month following Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the pace in ongoing probes against his rivals.

The move represents the newest attempt to utilize the Department of Justice to punish opponents.

This occurs 14 days following Halligan secured charges targeting the former FBI director.

Career prosecutors prepared a memo regarding that situation detailing the reasons charges were not justified.

Comey denied the charges this past Wednesday.
